ADVANCED 500 MHZ O’SCOPES

Saelig Co., Inc., now offers Teledyne Test Tools T3DSO2000A oscilloscopes which are available in two-channel and four-channel versions with analog bandwidths from 100 MHz to 500 MHz. Each model offers a maximum sample rate of 2 GSa/s and a maximum memory depth of 200 Mpts in half-channel mode.

This scope series provides a minimum vertical input range of 1 mV/div, an innovative digital trigger system with high sensitivity and low jitter, and a waveform capture rate of 500,000 wfms/sec (sequence mode). The four-channel models incorporate two 2 GSa/s ADCs and two 140 Mpt memory modules.

When all channels are enabled, each channel has sample rate of 1 GSa/s and a standard record length of 70 Mpts.

For ease-of-use, the most commonly used functions can be accessed with a user-friendly 8” TFT-LCD. A 256-level intensity grading display function and a color temperature display mode complement the update rate. The new digital design also includes a hardware co-processor that delivers measurements quickly and accurately without slowing acquisition and front-panel response.

Multiple powerful triggering modes are provided to cover many waveform types and signal protocols. Included with each model are Serial Bus Trigger and Decode: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN; as well as optional CAN FD, I2S, MIL-1553B, FlexRay.

The models also include History waveform recording and sequential triggering that enable extended waveform recording and analysis. Other options available include the 50 MHz function/arbitrary waveform generator and the 16-channel MSO option, both of which are field up-gradable options.

Ten types of one-button shortcuts are provided to make instrument use intuitive and fast, which support Auto-Setup, Default, Cursors, Measure, Roll, History, Display/Persist, Clear Sweep, Zoom, and Print. Eight math functions are also included (FFT, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, integration, differential, square root).

Automatic measurements are provided for more than 50 parameters, as well as Measurement Statistics, Zoom, Gating, Math, History, and Reference functions. Also included are Bode Plot and Power Analysis applications as standard.

VECTOR NETWORK ANALYZER

Saelig is also now offering the Pico Technology PicoVNA 108 which extends to 8.5 GHz (the operating frequency range of the same-footprint PicoVNA 106 6 GHz instrument released three years ago). The new PicoVNA 108 fulfills user demand for “faster, more frequency range, more port power and dynamic range, and more functionality.”

In addition to the PicoVNA 108’s extended range from 300 kHz to 8.5 GHz, it can now operate down to –124 dB. This VNA provides a new “save on trigger” synchronization for multiple measurements (e.g., with changing conditions or multiplexed measurement routings).

The PicoVNA’s built-in bias-Ts provide a DC bias or test stimulus to active devices without the complexity and cost of external DC-blocks. This speeds up batch test and device characterizations.

An offset frequency capability has also been added to the Quad RX four-receiver architecture, as well as synchronization and control of the PicoSource AS108 8 GHz agile synthesizer from within the PicoVNA 3 software (provided free). This instrument combination simplifies RF mixer and RF/IF system characterizations.

The PicoVNA 108 two-port USB-controlled, laboratory-grade VNA offers dual-frequency mixer measurements with VSWR correction. With a significant price advantage over a traditional VNA, the PicoVNA offers full-function, professional-grade measurements of all four S-parameters in as little as 190 µs. It offers an exceptional dynamic range of 124 dB at 10 Hz and less than 0.00 6dB RMS trace noise at its maximum operating bandwidth of 140 kHz.

The PicoVNA’s small size, light weight, and low cost makes it ideal for field service, installation test, OEM embedded, and classroom applications. It can operate as a deep dynamic range scalar network analyzer, a single-port vector reflectometer, or a full-function dual-port/dual-path vector network analyzer. With remote automation capability, it’s also useful in applications such as: test automation, including multiple VNA control and measurement, integrated reflectometry or transmission measurements, manufacturing inspection, test, characterization and calibration, electronic component assembly and ATE interface/interconnect, antenna matching and tuning, etc. The PicoVNA’s software development kits include code examples in MATLAB and MATLAB RF toolbox, LabVIEW, C, C#, and Python.

The compact (11.3” x 6.9” x 2.4”) PicoVNA 108 can be PC-controlled over USB from a Microsoft Windows interface. The PicoVNA 3 software supports a comprehensive range of calibration modes to address single or dual-port workload with male, female, or mixed gender interfaces, all with the best achievable accuracy (least uncertainty).

INSULATED ALLIGATOR TEST CLIPS

Cal Test has added four new insulated alligator clip models to its comprehensive Test Clip line. The new models are:

  • Large Insulated Alligator Clip with 4 mm Sheathed Jack
  • Medium Insulated Alligator Clip with 4 mm Sheathed Jack
  • Medium Insulated Alligator Clip with DIY Solder Connection
  • Medium Insulated Alligator Clip with 2 mm Pin Jack

All four models are fully insulated for the extra protection needed in high category environments. Rated to 1,000 V CAT III and 600 V CAT IV, the clips are in compliance with the IEC 61010-031 safety standards. They are RoHS 2 compliant and carry the European Union CE mark.

The large clip (CT4409 and CT4410) is rated to 20A and offers a 4 mm sheathed jack for standard or sheathed banana plugs. The thumb actuator is ergonomically curved and boasts lined ridges for a sure grip. The slim beak jaw allows the clip to reach into narrow spaces. With a 34 mm jaw opening, you’ll easily grab even the largest terminal. Once in place, the spring loaded, three-incisor mouth will hold securely to screw heads or flat headed objects. The medium alligator clips (CT4415-CT4439) are rated to 10A and offer three varying connect options:

  • 4 mm sheathed banana jack for sheathed or standard banana plugs
  • 2 mm pin jack for tip plugs or standard DMM probes
  • DIY solder connection for your choice of test lead wire

They feature a standard alligator clip body with each jaw-half fully insulated. The flexible insulated boot completely covers the remainder of the clip body allowing for CAT III/CAT IV safety ratings.

The DIY models (CT4433 and CT4434) allow users to build their own lead assemblies. Single unit pricing starts at $2.25.
