Does the ability to repair a device influence your buying decisions?

If you were going to replace a common household item such as a toaster, sewing machine, television, etc., would you be more inclined to purchase one that had repair instructions and/or replacement parts available? Do you even bother to take a look to see if the device is held together with screws so that you might have a chance of opening it if it malfunctions? Or, do you buy an inexpensive one and figure you'll dispose of it if (when?) it finally fails.
