Measurement Computing Corporation announces the release of the MCC 134 thermocouple measurement HAT for the Raspberry Pi. The MCC 134 brings high quality temperature measurement capability to the popular low cost computer.

The device features four thermocouple (TC) inputs capable of measuring the most popular TC types including J, K, R, S, T, N, E, and B. Each channel type is selectable on a per-channel basis. Price is $149.

The MCC 134 features 24-bit resolution and provides professional-grade accuracy which is best in class. Open thermocouple detection lets users monitor for broken or disconnected thermocouples.

Up to eight MCC HATs can be stacked onto one Raspberry Pi. With the already available MCC 118 eight-channel voltage measurement HAT and the MCC 152 voltage output and digital I/O HAT, users can configure multifunction Pi-based solutions with analog input, output, and digital I/O. The growing base of Raspberry Pi users is making single board computers more prevalent in professional DAQ applications.

The open-source MCC DAQ HAT Library of commands in C/C++ and Python allows users to develop applications on Linux. The library is available to download from GitHub. Comprehensive API and hardware documentation are also provided.

LDG has introduced its next step in the evolution of the automatic antenna tuner: PC control. With the addition of a low cost USB cable, radio amateurs can control their AT-600ProII and AT-1000ProII tuners from their PCs, without any upgrades to the tuner.

Many of the tuner’s front panel functions can be controlled via the free LDG GUI software. Use the Internet and remote desktop on your computer to control your tuner from anywhere. Functions available in the free GUI are:

  • Start Tune
  • Select Ant1/Ant2
  • Select Bypass
  • Choose Auto/Manual modes
  • SWR Result Indicator
  • Tune In process Indicator

A custom USB cable connects the PC to the tuner via the tuner’s meter port. Owners of these tuners can download the free app and cable information from the LDG website.

The PROTOMETER® voltmeter now available from DLP Design is devised to take up as little space as possible on your workbench, thereby reducing clutter and freeing your hands from holding test leads. The extreme low power design and autopower-off feature ensure that the coin-cell battery will last for months.

The easy-to-read LCD display will present positive and negative voltage readings without having to reverse the connection to the circuit under test. DC measurements are performed by a simple average, and AC measurements by an RMS calculation.

To operate, simply:

  1. Press and release the Power button.
  2. Select AC or DC Mode using the slide switch.
  3. Connect to the circuit you wish to measure using the appropriate (male/female) two-pin header.

The DLP-PMV will turn itself off after ~30 minutes of continuous use to conserve the battery.

Tektronix, Inc., has introduced two new products to its portfolio with the launch of the 3 Series Mixed Domain Oscilloscope (MDO) and 4 Series Mixed Signal Oscilloscope (MSO).

The new 3 Series MDO and 4 Series MSO feature a highly intuitive touchscreen user interface, the largest and highest resolution display in their class, and a modern industrial design. Now with more options across an array of demanding applications, Tektronix’ state-of-the-art product portfolio delivers advanced measurement and analysis capabilities and provides a comprehensive range of performance options for engineers.

The 3 and 4 Series interface design with touchscreens and front panels keep key controls close at hand so instead of digging through multiple menus to find settings, engineers can simply double-tap the appropriate readout or measurement on the display.

The new 4 Series MSO features a 13.3 in display with 1920x1080 HD resolution. It offers bandwidths up to 1.5 GHz and uses 12-bit ADCs for high vertical resolution in its class as well. It offers six input channels and with innovative FlexChannel™ technology, any input channel can be converted from an analog to eight digital channels simply by connecting a logic probe.

To meet a diverse range of application requirements, the 4 Series MSO is available with bandwidths starting at 200 MHz and is well supported with options including serial decode and analysis, an arbitrary/function generator, and a DVM/frequency counter.

The new Spectrum View feature offers time correlated frequency domain analysis with independent spectrum controls. A power analysis package is available to automate AC line, switching device, ripple, and sequencing measurements. Bandwidth and options are all field upgradeable. All models deliver a 6.25 GS/s sample rate on all analog and digital channels. Standard record length is 31.25 Mpoints with an option for 62.5 Mpoints.

The 3 Series MDO is intended to be the compact, versatile test instrument that sits on the desk of every engineer. It features a 11.6 in display with full high-definition resolution. It uses the same intuitive user interface as the rest of the portfolio with a similar set of knobs and buttons but takes up less than six inches of depth on a bench. The 3 Series MDO can cover a wide range of debugging and validation tasks. It offers a built-in spectrum analyzer up to 3 GHz, with a separate RF input and specifications comparable to a stand-alone analyzer. This enables engineers to quickly debug wireless components in their designs or quickly track down sources of unwanted EMI emissions without having to use another instrument. Sixteen digital input channels are available for mixed signal analysis. Comprehensive serial protocol debugging and triggering options, optional power measurement, and an optional AFG set the standard for versatility. A DVM/frequency counter is included for free with product registration.

The new 3 Series MDO is available in bandwidths starting at 100 MHz and extending to 1 GHz. Models are available with 2.5 GS/s or 5 GS/s sample rates on all analog and up to 8.25 GS/s on digital channels with 121.2 ps timing resolution. Standard record length is 10 Mpoints. For investment protection, bandwidths and options are fully upgradeable.

The 3 Series MDO is priced from $3,850 and the 4 Series MSO is priced from $7,550. Prices include a standard three year warranty and passive probes.

Cal Test Electronics introduces its new CT4140A 4 mm inline fuse adapter. This adapter adds flexibility to virtually any electrical application as it fits in-series with existing test set-ups.

Easily connecting inline with sheathed 4 mm banana plugs, the CT4140A extends safety by reducing risks associated with arc flashes. In the event of a power surge, its internal fast-acting fuse will cut power in fractions of a second, thereby protecting the individual and equipment.

The versatile CT4140A allows users to easily replace blown fuses. Unscrew the forward portion of the body to access and replace the 6 x 32 mm type FF fast-acting ceramic fuse. Fuses range from 0.5A to 2A.
